Jackson Purchase Energy
Jackson Purchase Energy’s (JPEC) concern for community extends beyond our service area and includes the greater good for the communities we serve. We understand that the decisions we make have the potential to impact more than just the consumer-members and employees of JPEC. That is why we have made the difficult decision to postpone our June 2020 annual meeting and Board of Directors’ election.
As news emerges regarding the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), JPEC joins in the best practices of cooperatives and other utilities across the nation in taking appropriate measures to promote the health and safety of our consumer-members, employees and the general public.
We also want to comply with the requests and mandates placed on us by our state, local and national government. On March 19, 2020 the governor of Kentucky issued a letter “banning all mass gatherings.” With that in mind, JPEC’s board of directors decided postponing the annual gathering of several hundred members and guests is prudent in helping to slow the transmission of the virus. Our hope is that the COVID-19 landscape will drastically improve soon and that plans can be made to conduct our annual meeting at a later date.
We realize this is a fluid situation and we are doing all we can to make sure that our consumer-members and employees are safe and healthy. The decisions we make are not taken lightly, and we ask for your patience as we navigate through the coming weeks and months. The annual meeting and the election of Board of Director members will be rescheduled as soon as practical once the governmental restrictions are lifted and the health and safety of consumer-members and employees can be adequately provided.
We will miss seeing each of you, but remember that we are all still here, and we are ready to provide you with the best service around. Your lights will stay on during this dark time.
I want to thank the management and employees at JPEC for doing their part in getting us through these uncharted waters. We are lucky to have such incredible people working behind the scenes to power our homes, businesses and communities.
