The annual meeting of consumer-members is a long-standing tradition for Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative (JPEC) and one that we look forward to every year. During the annual meeting, consumer-members from across our service area are afforded the opportunity to come together, listen to live music, learn about cooperative business, and maybe even win a prize. However, health concerns, driven by Covid-19, have forced many cooperatives all across the nation to select an alternative method for holding their 2020 annual meetings.
Early on, JPEC postponed our annual meeting in hopes that the pandemic environment would improve; however, those concerns are still present. Due to our continued limited ability to meet in groups of any substantial size, JPEC plans to have a drive-thru registration on September 11th and a virtual meeting on September 15th.
“While the virtual option is not our first choice, it is the safest option for our employees and consumer-members. We hope to see everyone in more of a normal setting in 2021” said JPEC President & CEO, Greg Grissom.
Drive-thru registration for the 2020 Annual Meeting will take place from 9 a.m.–2 p.m., Friday, September 11, at Jackson Purchase Energy’s parking lot. Consumer-members can watch the business meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, on our website at www.jpenergy.com.
