Jackson Purchase Energy
Co-op works to prepare for approaching storms
Jackson Purchase Energy (JPEC) crews have stocked trucks and staged equipment throughout our service area to prepare for potential outage situations that may occur due to hurricane Laura. Our contracted linemen and tree crews are also standing ready to respond at a moments notice. We expect rain to begin early Friday morning with the most severe weather impacting our area around lunch/early afternoon. According to weather predictions, we can expect 30-40 mile per hour winds and 1-3 inches of rain from the quick moving system. We will determine what aid JPEC can provide to cooperatives on the gulf coast once we determine the severity of the damage to the JPEC grid.
Please keep an eye on the weather as it progresses. If you encounter a downed power line, please stay clear, assume the line is electrified, and notify JPEC. Cutting trees and moving tree limbs near power lines is very dangerous, you could be electrocuted if the tree is in contact with the line.
Consumer-members can report outages using our JPEC app, by calling call 270-442-7321 or toll free at 800-633-4044.
